Profile: Dr Rachel Smith has worked in the field of mental health for over 18 years. Since qualifying as a clinical psychologist in 2008 she has specialised in the area of forensics, working in a range of services for adolescents and adults. In addition to her ongoing clinical practice in NHS forensic settings, Dr Smith is a clinical tutor on the University of East London’s clinical psychology training, where she is responsible for the forensic/risk assessment and family therapy modules. Her breadth of training and experience enables Dr Smith to comment on a range of issues in Criminal, Family and Civil Law. For example, she has specialist expertise in young people involved in county lines, risks parents pose to children, and assessments of high risk individuals, to include mental health, personality, suggestibility and cognitive ability. Dr Smith regularly prepares Court reports both as part of her NHS and independent practice, and also attends Court to give evidence.
